When treating hair loss, using natural herbal hair loss treatment product gives you assurance. 1. Health Concerns Of course there are considerations that you should take when using herbal products, most particularly if you have allergies to certain ingredients or if you plan on taking the treatment with pre-existing medication or dietary supplements. Asking a doctor for advice is a definite step you have to take before proceeding. 2. 6 Important Herbal Ingredients Once you get a green light from your doctor and skin care expert, its time to get yourself herbal hair loss treatment that is right for you. Check the labels of products for certain organic ingredients and compare them with the following herbal hair loss remedies: 1. Jojoba Oil and Emu Oil: These oil extracts are known to invigorate the scalp, help fight dandruff and relieves itchiness. 2. Aloe Vera: this is a famous herb that will revitalize hair follicles and gives you fuller, shinier hair. 3. Chamomile: this herb maintains the growth of your hair making it more resistant to breakage and prevents split ends. 4. Pomegranate: not only will it affect your hair and scalp, this is a very effective antioxidant that is beneficial to the whole body. 5. Nettle Root: the extract from the nettle root is a powerful anti-DHT ingredient that will prevent hair loss. 6. Rosemary: this will directly affect hair follicles on your scalp, stimulating better hair growth and the activation of dormant hair follicles. Here are a few reasons for hair loss. Heredity, hormones, stress, diet, illness, poor hair care and all are factors. Stress, what you eat and illness are temporary conditions and usually the loss is reversed when the various conditions are more normalized. Hair loss and re-growth products have been around for hundreds of years. All kinds of remedies were concocted and used by Egyptians, Aztecs, Mayans, and American Indians, all with some degree of effectiveness for some people. The more recent high tech medical research has found ways to open and stimulate unproductive hair follicles, so that hair growth can once again occur, as well as keep the healthy follicles healthy stimulated and re-growing hair. Research studies have shown that in about 80% of the participants, products containing this minoxidil are effective in slowing hair loss and, in some, causing regrowth to occur. Heredity and hormones are different matters, however. You are a product of your parents, thinning and baldness is often inherited. Hormones have different effects on each individual. Testosterone abides abundantly in males. DHT is created as a result of enzymes working on testosterone. DHT circulates in the blood stream which causes the hair follicles to shrink. And when the hair follicles shrink enough, they are not able to produce and push a new hair through. As old hair dies, it is then not replaced. There are plenty of other herbal ingredients that provide varying beneficial effects to your hair and scalp, checking the ingredients of treatment products allows you to choose wisely by knowing what each product offers. If you need better hair growth, then use products with aloe Vera. If hair loss is your only concern, then a pure nettle root product will suffice.

With men worldwide becoming increasingly distressed about their receding hairlines, it is encouraging to hear news that stem cell research may soon provide answers for some hair loss sufferers.

Stem cell regeneration has been very effective over the last 10 years or so at producing hair growth in mice, a fact that has been well documented and has caused more than its fair share of controversy. Despite this, Aderans Research Institute has launched Phase Two of its clinical study on cell-based regeneration of hair.
Obviously following on from the findings made during Phase One, Phase Two will continue to assess the effects of stem cell treatment on both male and female pattern hair loss. If a treatment is derived from these studies, it is likely that it will only be suitable for male pattern baldness, or androgenetic alopecia, and will not be suitable for hair loss sufferers with underlying conditions that may be affecting their loss of hair. There is further experimentation taking place which suggests that treatments may be available to enable hair to grow back, regardless of why it fell out in the first place, however there is currently no conclusive evidence to support this beyond mere speculation.

The treatment would involve drawing the blood of the patient, which is then separated. This process is called PRP or platelet rich plasma, which contains stem cells and growth factors. Those factors then are injected into the scalp in the affected area. This form of stem cell treatment, which would cost several thousand dollars, also uses a laser to agitate the skin so the stem cells can migrate into the hair follicles. The procedure can be uncomfortable, however it would just be a one hour treatment that would only need to be performed once.

This treatment procedure is still in the experimental stages, and is therefore not available to the general public. The results will be published in a study but in the meantime, if you’re losing your hair there are several other hair loss treatment options available.

Does washing your hair cause hair loss?

NO. That’s a big fat NO. It’s a common misconception, founded on people seeing hairs wash down the plug-hole, that washing your hair causes hair loss. But it doesn’t.

In fact it’s important that you keep your scalp clean if you want to do everything you can to prevent hair loss caused by DHT. DHT is present in an oil called sebum, which is secreted through the pores in the scalp. There is often a correlation between increased sebum on the scalp and hair loss. In fact the two are related in many (but not all) hair loss cases.

It’s important for the health of your hair that you keep your scalp as free of sebum as you can. Sebum contains DHT, which attacks hair follicles as though the hairs were foreign bodies.

If sebum isn’t cleaned from the scalp daily it can build up and combine with dead skin cells and other pollutants (such as dust, air pollution and hair gel). If this build up continues (which it easily can and often does) the sebum can harden and embed into the scalp, clogging the scalps’ pores – this is what causes the shiny scalp effect, common among hair loss sufferers.

Recently I received several emails from HairBoutique.com visitors asking how depression might be linked to hair loss or other hair concerns such as slowed growth, change in texture or other factors.

Good question. Can depression cause hair loss? Or does hair loss occur as a side effect to the drugs that may be prescribed for treating depression? Which comes first depression or hair loss?

Before I answer these questions it’s important to provide an overview of what depression is.

What Is Depression

According to Wikipedia a person suffering a major depressive mood usually experiences a pervasive low mood or lost of interest or pleasure in favored activities. Depression has been equated to that of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.

Depression can have physical causes, psychological causes or a combination of both.

As a general rule depressed people may be preoccupied with, or repeatedly mull over thoughts of worthlessness, inappropriate guilt or regret and have feelings of helplessness or hopelessness.

Symptoms Of Depression

Other symptoms may include poor concentration and memory, withdrawal from social situations, reduced sex drive and thoughts of death or suicide. Insomnia is common as is hypersomnia or oversleeping. Appetite may decrease with resulting weight loss but on the flip side there can be increased appetite and weight gain.

Physical symptoms might include fatigue, headaches or digestive problems. Family and friends may perceive the depressed person as agitated or slowed down. Older people may be more forgetful. In severe cases depression may show up as delusions or hallucinations.

Physical & Psychological Causes Of Depression

Experts link the causes of depression to both physical and psychological causes. In some cases doctors believe depression is related to a specific physical cause such as an overactive hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis known as the HPA axis.

There are also some indications that estrogen can play a part in depressive disorders especially after puberty, after giving birth and after menopause.

Premenstrual and postpartum periods of low estrogen levels are also linked to possible physical depression. At this point estrogen is still being researched as a possible factor and/or treatment.

Deficiencies in Essential Dietary Nutrients

Some naturopathic physicans believe that deficiencies in certain essential dietary nutrients, specifically vitamin B12 and folic acid have been associated with depression. Other missing nutrients related to depression include copper and magnesium as well as Vitamin A.

Although it is not always clear cut which factors cause depression, psychological causes are linked to various aspects of personality and its development. Psychological depression is often linked with adverse lifetime events and lifetime stress. Recent research emphasizes the importance of alterations in responses to stress in the etiology of depression.

For older adults, the factors are often health problems, changes in relationships with a spouse or adult children due to the transition to a care-giving or care-needing role, the death of a significant other, or a change in the availability or quality of social relationships with older friends because of their own health-related life changes.

Depression Related Hair Loss

Is there a link between depression and hair loss?

Without even looking at the medications which are prescribed for depression and the possibility of hair loss related side effects, it’s clear to see that both physical and psychological forms of depression could possibly be linked to hair loss and/or other hair changes even without prescribed depression medications.

Depression Related Weight Loss & Hair Loss

Telogen Effluvium

If someone who is depressed has lost interest in food and have suddenly started losing weight, they may be inadvertently triggering a type of hair loss known as Telogen Effluvium which may result from not taking in enough daily calories to sustain healthy hairmaintenance and growth.

Telogen Effluvium is a recognized form of hair loss which often occurs when people cut back on daily required calories and is often found in those with eating disorders such as anorexia or related food restriction plans. Telogen Effluvium is considered a temporary hair loss issue but definitely is linked to loss of appetite or food restricting, which can be a key symptom with depression.

Improper Sleep, Hormonal Balance, Thyroid Issues & Dehydration

Other known factors that contribute to sudden hair loss include lack of proper sleep, hormonal imbalances, thyroid related challenges and dehydration.

If someone suffering from either type of depression (physical or psychological) has chronic insomnia or is deficient in some of the B vitamins, specifically B12, they will most likely notice hair related changed ranging from sudden loss to dryness or changes in manageability.

Copper, magnesium and Vitamin A are well-known nutrients necessary for healthy and optimal hair growth and maintenance. When they are deficient in the body, the hair may react by thinning, falling out or other related symptoms.

In fact, the HairTopia healthy hair system of nutrients was specifically designed to include B vitamins, copper, magnesium and Vitamin A because of their known importance to the development, growth and maintenance of healthy hair for all ages, races and sex. In fact, the HairTopia Total System specifically contains copper due to its importance in maintaining strong strands.

Regardless whether depression is physical or psychologically triggered, if any of the common physical symptoms listed above are manifested there is a strong possibility that hair loss or hair challenges may arise as a side symptom of the disease.

Of course depression should always be treated by the proper medial experts who can evaluate your symptoms and recommend appropriate courses of action.

Do depression medications cause hair loss? Can losing hair cause depression? Those are both very good questions that I will address in future articles or blogs.

1. Refractory gross clinical study of combination therapy onset
Throughout the past 10 years, the literature related to hair loss, alopecia areata research more simple, but heavy-duty completed, all bald, bald general, recurrent alopecia areata, seborrheic alopecia, alopecia areata and other studies of children less hair loss after six persons are currently diagnosis and treatment of important and difficult, such as severe alopecia areata is simple to total baldness, development of key S & P off to carry out severe alopecia areata research, contribute to the control of active alopecia areata, is conducive to the reduction and control of all simple Alopecia areata bald, bald and other common malignant transformation, in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease of great significance; carry out all bald, bald general, recurrent alopecia areata and other studies, the inherent benefit of immunity and the recurrence of the disease mechanism-based therapy offers patients comprehensive management While the theoretical basis, can help tap the new treatment of the disease and the means to broaden the clinical treatment approaches to improve the cure rate of this disease and shorten the course of treatment. Alopecia areata self-healing tendencies exist, especially when in the recovery stage of the disease, research in process research design did not distinguish between active, inactive, recovery cases, it is difficult to assess the exact effect of various treatments. At the same time the lack of prospective controlled clinical study, reproducibility study is not ideal, in the future the need for strict design, uniform standards for evaluating the therapeutic efficacy, focusing on evaluation of efficacy of various treatments of alopecia areata activities, and strengthen the comprehensive Integrated Traditional and Western treatments for alopecia areata research, selection to optimize the combination of effective therapies to improve cure rates in refractory alopecia areata.

Dr. Christian Jessen is a 33-year old English television presenter, recognized for his work on the shows Supersize vs. Superskinny and Embarrassing Bodies. Dr. Jessen recently admitted that he underwent a hair transplant procedure a year ago and is very happy with his results.
Wanting to restore his hair line and bring down his high temples, Dr. Jessen elected to have a strip hair transplant procedure at a UK clinic. He described the strip procedure as “not painful but it is uncomfortable”, and went on to say “you also have an incision at the back of your head, which is very hard to sleep with immediately after the procedure.” During a strip hair transplant surgery, the doctor removes a strip of scalp tissue from the back of the patient’s head; the wound is later closed using sutures. The excised strip is dissected into follicular units (small, naturally-occurring groupings of hair). These follicular units are then implanted into thinning or balding areas.
A less invasive alternative to the strip procedure is a transplant via the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique. This method involves the individual removal of follicular units, which are then transplanted directly into balding areas. Unlike with strip, the FUE method does not leave the tell-tale linear scar, and requires less healing time. Without the large excision and need for sutures, there is also much less general discomfort involved in a FUE procedure.
Dr. Jessen explained that he decided to have a HT procedure after meeting a man who’d had a hair transplant on one of his shows. Of his transplant, Dr. Jessen explains “it’s nothing to be ashamed about. These days lots of men are doing things to improve their appearance…I’ve done this for myself and I’m really pleased with the results.” Perhaps Dr. Jessen’s openness about his procedure, and his satisfaction as a result, will encourage other public figures to come forward and speak openly about their own hair loss and/or hair restoration surgery.

Hi All,

As we all know thin or thinning hair can be a nightmare to style and choosing a cut when we’re not feeling our best ranks alongside visiting the mother-in-law or going to the dentist! Choosing a style for thin or thinning hair can be a challenge; especially if the problem has come on quite suddenly or you are used to having thicker hair which has now thinned.

However visiting the hairdressers needn’t be a traumatic experience. Talk to your hairdresser who will be understanding about your concerns and be specific about how you want the style to reflect your personal sense of style and make the most of what you have – after all they are there to make you feel fabulous! Here are Nourkrin’s top cuts and styling tips:

1. Bob’s your uncle – depending on your face shape and the thickness of your hair go for either the ear-length or chin length classic bob, it will give the illusion of volume and will make your hair look super-healthy.
Tip: use a shine spray to add gloss and super-sleekness

2. Chop chop – similar to the classic bob but with choppy ends. It will give more shape and add movement.
Tip: if you are time-poor this will be better than the classic bob as you can wear it messy with some wax to texturise

3. Fringe benefits – be brave, have a fringe cut in! It will help hide thinning hair on your hairline and transform your look. A good stylist will know which style of fringe will suit you best so don’t be afraid to ask!
Tip: fringes are perfect for shaping petite or oval faces and accentuating beautiful eyes

4. Crop, look and listen – crops, or any short style, give greater volume and lift for thinner hair and can help strategically hide thinning patches when used with wax or a little gel.
Tip: crops draw attention to your profile, skin and eyes so make sure you are primed to perfection with a crop cut and speak to your stylist about which style will suit your face shape!

5. Lay it proud – The best cut for adding volume and bounce; go to just to or below the shoulder to add dimension. However don’t go for too many layers as it will end up looking limp and straggly. This look isn’t for everyone but if you prefer your hair a little longer is definitely the best option.
Tip: get regular trims – there’s nothing worse than ragged, straggly split ends!
